Serenity Prayer

For those who wish to share how your faith has helped you deal with the suicide of another perons -- if you can do so in a non-preachy way.

Serenity Prayer

The Serenity Prayer

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.
I love you, little brother, and miss you more than words could ever say.

Thank you - it was lovely to be reminded of this prayer. I happened to read it at a time when I have to take a big breath and do something very difficult. Thanks again.

A post by another person about his brother being an addict and how he was applying the HALT principal that his brother used to his own life and grief brought this prayer to mind. There are parts of it that really apply to me and my grieving...God grant me the serenity to accept the things I can not change...I can't change the fact that my brother is gone or the way he decided to leave. Take this journey of grief...One day at a time, one moment at a time....baby steps when I need to. Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His will.....Jesus is hope and God's will is always better than mine. I am so glad that he wrote what he did and reminded me of this prayer. It also reminded me that "I can't...He can...I will let Him" I'm going to let Him heal the hurt, pain, and anger that I feel over my brother's suicide because I can't do this on my own.
I love you, little brother, and miss you more than words could ever say.

Little moments here and there, of 'giving over'. I am very pleased for you.
(Yes, I thought the HALT guide was very good as well)

Senility Prayer from http://www.thisfunsforyou.com/htdocs/fu ... nility.php

God grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway, the good fortune to run into those I do and the eyesight to tell the difference.

PS A good laugh can help too....
